As the owner of two health and sports supplement stores, the question I get asked most often is, what should I be taking?  

I swear by the FOUNDATION FIVE. Five Supplements that if you were to take nothing else, this would be my recommendation. Why? Because they offer the biggest bang for buck.

Nourished cells will have a different effect on brain signals than those fed with junk food. If you are deficient in key nutrients, be it a mineral, vitamin or enzyme for example, you are technically malnourished. The human body really isn’t all that interested in how many calories it gets; calories won’t keep you alive, nutrients will. It’s the quality of the calories that count.

Every nutrient plays a role in the body and is needed for chemical reactions to happen effectively. That’s all cells are really; millions of chemical reactions happening every second, constantly burning up nutrients from oxygen to essential fatty acids. Without the use of all these different vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, fatty acids, amino acids, antioxidants etc, we really wouldn’t be doing much.

So if you think just getting 2000-2500 calories per day is all you need to worry about, think again. People who eat a diet high in junk food with no or very little nutrients, which are generally full of additives and highly addictive (like caffeine, sugar and Trans fats), will be constantly sluggish, sick and hungry. You simply can’t satisfy an unhealthy nutrient deprived body with nutrient-less foods! All you end up with is an unhealthy body and an unhealthy appetite.

When you eat a diet full of fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts & seeds and lean proteins, you will be nourishing your body with a good amount of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients essential for the body to function optimally.
